Just down the road from my home, Castlewood Canyon State Park continues to inspire my latest digital series — a blend of convenience and calling. Nesting hawks watch over winter cliffs, rattlesnakes return with spring, and every brushstroke carries the rhythm of this wild, beautiful place east of the mountains.

Written in memory of my friend Tony Sneed, Winter’s Fragile Light reflects on the quiet spaces between grief and grace — the way morning light can still find its way through cold air and heavy hearts. This piece is both poem and reflection, a reminder that even in loss, beauty lingers softly in the edges of winter.

It’s been over two months since I last touched watercolor — life and work swept me into gouache pieces and digital sketches instead. My watercolor palette had been sitting empty, a quiet reminder of something I’d been too busy to return to. On Sunday, I finally took a deep breath, slowed down, and set up a brand new palette (I’ll share more about that soon). Last night, I dipped my brush in for the first time in ages… and it felt like catching up with an old friend.
