January 2022 - Cold Winter Days Nestled In At Home
The cold of winter set in and we all nestled into life at home. I was working two full time consulting gigs - one as an interim Chief Executive Officer for an early-stage healthcare data & analytics company and the other as an interim Chief Operating Officer for a mature insurance software company - on the work-front, I was weighing which of the two roles would be best for me to take full time. We were enjoying our time with Cleo - not discussed but understood that it would probably be our last year with her. I took an end of the day hike near our house and got a little frostbit as it was hovering around 5-degrees out and I had the wrong gloves, but I got some wonderful views of the surrounding beauty of our Colorado neighborhood. Debbie's recovery from her horrible fall was slow and in January she was still sleeping in the media room downstairs in a rented hospital bed. Her seizures slowed and soon stopped altogether, which was a relief as it was getting harder for Alex, Flynn and me to give her the round the clock care that was needed when she was having seizures regularly. Covid-19 still ruled the news cycle and we were abundantly cautious given Debbie's immune system and the health scare I had a couple of years earlier.
